Right from Arthur C. Clarke at his most "Rama-esque" to the wonderful Douglas Adams (lack of planning permission required for space highways) the idea of terra-forming is ubiquitous in science fiction:~ "Total Recall" has oxygen synthesizers and why not? But supposing the "gods" can start from scratch, throw an entire universe together in six "days" (isolation tests establish natural human preference for 24-hour cycle life-style), rest on the seventh while the time-code cooks and finish with a few flourishes; (Great Pyramid etc.,) while the fuel lasts? I have no problem with that. (author) |
